Privacy Policy

What stays in your browser

No UMConnexion account is required. The app uses browser storage to remember:

• Your Annual Conference selection, including a custom conference name and website if you enter one, and your church role.
• Favorite ministries and their resource links.
• Saved news items in your reading list and a cached copy of recent headlines and feed details.
• Videos saved to Watch Later and video IDs you manually mark as watched. UMConnexion does not automatically record how much of a video you watch.
• Personal reminders, including the title, date, and optional link you enter.
• Whether you completed or skipped first-use setup. A temporary session setting may be used if persistent storage is unavailable.

These saved lists and preferences are not uploaded as an account profile and do not sync through UMConnexion between browsers or devices. They remain until you remove them, clear site data, or your browser removes them. Other people using the same browser profile may see them. Avoid putting confidential information into reminder titles or custom fields.

The app may also cache basic files for offline access. Calendar downloads create a file on your device; importing that file into a calendar service is your choice and is governed by that service’s policies.

Information sent when the app loads

Browser-local storage does not mean that browsing is anonymous. Hosting and network providers receive ordinary connection information, which may include your IP address, browser details, requested pages, and request times. Their operational or security logs are governed by their own practices; UMConnexion does not promise a particular retention period for those logs.

The app requests news from its own server, which retrieves the official UM News feed. Choosing a listed Annual Conference also sends its directory identifier to the app’s server to find that conference’s resource links. Your entire saved preference list is not sent with these requests.

News images load from their publisher, and video thumbnails load from YouTube’s image service. Those image requests can disclose connection information such as your IP address and browser details before you click an article or play a video. The current app code does not add a dedicated advertising or visitor-analytics service; hosting and external services may still process information under their policies.

When you watch YouTube videos

The YouTube player is loaded when you click Play. UMConnexion uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed domain, youtube-nocookie.com. This mode is not a promise of no data collection or anonymous viewing.

Playback connects your browser to Google/YouTube. They may process connection information and interactions with the player, and may use cookies or similar technology under their policies and your settings. YouTube thumbnails are requested separately before playback. If you follow “Watch on YouTube,” you visit YouTube directly, where its usual service and account settings apply.

When you visit outside links

Opening an article, ministry resource, conference website, registration page, or other external link takes you to a service operated by someone else. That service receives your connection information and may receive referring-site information, depending on browser settings. Its own privacy policy, cookies, account features, and terms apply.

UMConnexion does not send your saved favorites, role, reminders, or video lists with these links. Information you enter on another website goes to that service. If you support the creator through Stripe, certain supporter and transaction details may also be shared with Christopher, as described below. UMConnexion does not control outside websites’ data handling.

Optional support through Stripe

The checkout currently displays Wisener Ventures LLC as the merchant. On mobile or desktop, Stripe may offer wallets or other payment services supported by your device and its checkout settings. If you choose a wallet, bank, installment service, or Stripe Link, that provider also processes information under its own policy. Choosing to save payment information with Stripe Link or a wallet saves it with that service, not in UMConnexion’s browser preferences. Stripe may process information entered into checkout even if you do not finish paying.

The “Support This Work” link opens a Stripe-hosted payment page for voluntary personal support of Rev. Christopher J. Wisener’s work on UMConnexion. It is an ordinary external link; UMConnexion does not embed a payment form or load Stripe’s payment scripts. Stripe’s terms and privacy practices apply when you open its checkout.

Stripe and payment partners process payments outside UMConnexion and may collect your name, email address, billing and payment details, transaction information, IP address, device information, and cookies or similar identifiers for checkout, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. Information requested can vary by payment method and checkout settings. UMConnexion does not collect or store your full card number, bank-login credentials, or payment-account password.

Christopher may receive supporter contact information supplied at checkout, contribution amounts, payment status, and transaction details through Stripe. Support is not necessarily anonymous. These records may be used to acknowledge support, answer payment questions, handle refunds or disputes, and meet accounting and legal obligations. Supporting the project does not subscribe you to a UMConnexion mailing list.

Payment records are separate from browser-saved app preferences. Clearing UMConnexion’s site data does not delete records held by Christopher, Stripe, or payment partners. Some records must be retained for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or disputes. For payment questions or requests concerning records held by Christopher, use the merchant contact information provided on your Stripe receipt or checkout. For information held by Stripe, follow the contact and privacy-rights instructions in Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

Your saved favorites, Annual Conference, role, reminders, and watched-video list are not included in the payment link. Optional support may fund Christopher’s time, operating costs, and personal financial support; it is not a tax-deductible charitable contribution. The app remains free.

Your choices and deletion

• Change your conference and role through My preferences, remove ministry favorites and saved articles, remove reminders, and toggle Watch Later or watched status in the app.
• To remove all local preferences and cached data, use your browser’s settings to clear this site’s cookies and site data, including local storage and cached/offline content. This resets setup and saved lists and cannot be undone through UMConnexion.
• Clearing local site data does not delete information already processed by hosting providers, Google/YouTube, other websites, or a calendar service you used. Manage that information through those providers’ settings and policies.
• You can choose not to play embedded videos or open outside links. Remote thumbnail and news-image requests may still occur while browsing. Browser privacy controls can restrict third-party content, but some features may stop working.

Policy updates

This policy will be updated when the app’s information practices change. The effective date above identifies this version. Review the policy again when new features are introduced.
